Get Ready for CatalystCon!

I’ve been to a lot of sex conferences, but I have to say that I had the most amazing time at Momentum. It was a real treat to get to spend a whole weekend with other sex geeks. The speakers were inspiring, the parties were a blast, and the conversations gave me a lot to think about.

Since not everyone could make it to the east coast, one of the organizers of Momentum decided to create a similar event in California. CatalystCon: Sparking Communication In Sexuality, Activism, And Acceptance will happen September 14-16 in Long Beach. Here’s the description from the site:

CatalystCon is a conference created to inspire exceptional conversations about sexuality. It is about reaching out and stimulating those who attend to create those important conversations in their own communities, changing how we as a society talk and treat sexuality.  It is about stimulating the activist that is within all of us and sparking transformation in the way our friends, neighbors, children and even politicians discuss one of the most important aspects of humanity.

This is a conference meant to energize, enlighten and exhilarate. It is a conference where everyone is welcome, everyone is respected, and everyone is encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences.   With the most current attacks on women’s rights such as birth control, mandatory transvagainal ultrasounds as well as sex education being pulled from our schools,  it is more important than ever to come together and have these important conversations on all areas of sexuality.

The fundamental principle of Catalyst is that knowledge is power and sharing that knowledge is the first spark in igniting changing  conversations.

If that sounds as much fun to you as it does to me, put it in your calendar! Plus, you can go to the event website and reserve a hotel room, which is probably a good idea. And they just opened up their call for presenters, so get on it and send in your proposal. If Momentum is any indication, the audience is going to be wonderful, so don’t be shy.

Whether you present at Catalyst or not, I’ll see you there!
